The St. Lawrence and Cazenovia riding teams, perennially at the top of Zone 2, Region 2 point standings, traded home show victories to open the 2011-12 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association season.

Cazenovia posted a perfect score of 49 points in its home show on Saturday with the Saints finishing second with 36 points and Geneseo third with 30, while the Saints won their home show with a score of 45 points with Cazenovia second with 39 and Geneseo and Syracuse tied for third with 26.

Points are awarded in eight different events and teams throw out the lowest score. Seven points are awarded for first, five for second, four for third, etc. through sixth place. Point riders are designated in each event and only those riders count toward the team total, but non-scoring riders in other classes of the same event can displace scoring riders.

In Sunday's SLU show, the Saints won all three over fences classes and added wins in two of the five flat classes.

Senior Abby Cook won in open equitation over fences and was second in open on the flat while sophomore Jessie Lewis won in intermediate over fences and junior Lily Dorris won in novice over fences as the Saint point riders in those events. Sophomore Katherine Figueroa won in novice on the flat and sophomore Sophie Miller won in walk-trot-canter for other wins by Saint point riders. First year Emily D'Alessandro was second in intermediate on the flat to complete the team scoring.

Other event winners in Sunday's show included first year Brook Taylor and seniors Kathryn Buccelli and Taylor Moon, all in novice on the flat. Junior Casey Zuraitis was second and D'Alessandro was third in open over fences and Meg Harrington was third in walk-trot.

In Saturday's show at Cazenovia Zuraitis won in novice on the flat among the point riders and the Saints piled up second place finishes in other events. Cook was second in both open fences and open on the flat, first year Lauryn Tannenhaus was second in intermediate fences, junior Michelle Harazim was second in walk-trot-canter and D'Alessandro was second in intermediate on the flat. Dorris was third in novice fences and senior Caroline Cody was second in walk-trot.

First year Sheila Murray won her class of walk-trot-canter in Saturday's show as did first year Anna Haron. D'Alessandro also had a second in open fences while Buccelli was second and first year Gwen Bailey finished third in novice fences. First year Jamie Tempesta was second in intermediate on the flat, and Bailey was third in novice on the flat.

The fall portion of the show season will continue Nov. 12-13 with back-to-back shows hosted by Geneseo.
