St. Lawrence University junior Divya Biswal earned All America honors for the second time in the current academic year with a fourth place finish in the NCAA Division III long jump at the NCAA Championships at Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday.
Biswal, a two-time indoor All America in the triple jump and an All America outdoors in the same event, scored at nationals for the first time in the long jump as she went 5.74 meters in her only counting jump of the competition. She made the eventual fourth place mark on her third and final try of the prelims after two fouls, and fouled on all three jumps in the finals.
She will compete in the triple jump, where she has the second-best mark for the current season, Saturday at 3 p.m.
In the other Thursday competition for the Saints, senior Amy Cymerman was the overall winner in the qualifying heats for the 3000 steeplechase on Thursday, running 10:41.32. Cymerman is one of 14 athletes out of a 22 runner field to advance to Saturday's 1 p.m. final.
