Saints baseball rallies for 13-8 win over Keystone

After giving up five runs in the first inning the St. Lawrence baseball team rallied for a 13-8 win over Keystone College to finish its spring training trip with a 4-1 record.

The Saints took the lead for good in the fifth inning when Erik Larsen led things off with a solo homerun before Mic Regan, Mark Syron and Devin Robson started a two-out rally with a single and pair of walks, respectively, to load the bases for Kyle MacDonald. MacDonald singled to drive in a pair of runs and give the Saints a 9-7 lead.

They added four more in the sixth on runs by Kyle Liszewski, Larsen, Isaac Lewis and Regan, while Syron contributed a two-run double in the inning that plated the last two.

MacDonald led the team with three runs batted in, while Regan scored a game-high four runs for the Saints.

Ben Jenkins started on the mound and threw four innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs (three earned) while striking out three. Frank Grady came in in relief and was the pitcher of record for St. Lawrence, earning the win and allows just four hits and one run in three innings of work. Liam Rogers picked up the save.

St. Lawrence will open the Liberty League portion of its reason with a pair of doubleheaders at Bard this weekend, with the first set of games scheduled for Saturday, March 21 starting at 1:00 p.m.
