Beau Yaremko and Brendon Frank both finished a combined 5-for-9 at the plate for the St. Lawrence baseball team on Saturday afternoon, as the Saints rallied for an 18-9 win in the second game of a Liberty League doubleheader at Bard to earn a split on Honey Field in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. The Raptors won the first game 10-4.

Frank led the Saints in the opening game of the series with a pair of hits as well as two RBI, while Bard had four players record multi-hit games in the win.

The Saints finished with an 18-15 edge in the hit parade in the nightcap, with six players recording multi-hit games, including Yaremko, who had a game-high four hits in the win.

St. Lawrence also had the help of a pair of home runs in game two; a solo homer by Anthony Butler and a three-run shot by Evan O'Keeffe. Officially, they are the Saints first home runs since March 19 against Plymouth State, though Evan Reichel hit one in the suspended game against RIT on April 13, which will not count towards season stats until that game is completed.

Caleb Clarke picked up his second win of the season in game two, with four earned runs on seven hits and a season-high seven strikeouts through six innings pitched.

Game 1 – Bard 10, St. Lawrence 4

Bard used a five-run second inning to erase a 4-1 deficit and take the lead for good en route to the 10-4 win.

Both teams scored one run in their half of the first inning, as Frank hit an RBI triple to center to bring Isaac Lewis in to score in the top of the frame and Bard responded with a sacrifice fly from Mike Pizzuto in the bottom half to tie the game at 1-1.

St. Lawrence then scored three runs on four hits in the top of the second inning to take a 4-1 lead.

With runners on first and third and no one out, Yaremko hit an RBI single to left field that plated Butler. Two batters later, Taylor Digilio singled to load the bases and Lewis followed with an RBI groundout to second to make it 3-1 in favor of the Saints. Frank picked up an RBI infield single in the next at-bat for the Saints' fourth and final run of the game.

Bard scored five runs on five hits with the help of a St. Lawrence error, two walks and a hit by pitch in the bottom of the second. Three runs came in to score on RBI singles to left field, while the final two were the result of bases-loaded walks.

Starter Alex Black was the pitcher of record for St. Lawrence and was pulled with two outs in the second inning, as he allowed six runs on six hits with a walk and three hit batsmen. Anthony Ferraro pitched two innings in relief for the Saints, allowing four runs in the bottom of the fourth as Bard extended the lead to the final 10-4 margin.

Charlie Pacilio pitched the final 2.1 innings, allowing just one hit and recording two strikeouts.

Bard's Evan Richardson went the distance in the seven-inning win, holding the Saints to four runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

Game 2 – St. Lawrence 18, Bard 9

Game two started the same way game one did for St. Lawrence with Frank ripping a triple to left center to bring Lewis in to score the first run of the game.

After a sacrifice fly by O'Keeffe and Butler's solo shot put the Saints in front 3-1 after two innings, they put up nine runs on eight hits, including six with two outs, in the top of the third to extend the lead to 12-1.

With one out and two runners on, O'Keeffe jacked a three-run home run over the left field fence for a 6-1 Saints' lead.

After Bard recorded the second out of the inning the Saints hit three straight RBI singles, including one by Digilio that brought both Yaremko and Joe DeGuardia in to score, before Lewis tripled to right center to drive in the team's 11th run and drive starter Frank Ortega out of the game for Bard.

Frank hit an RBI single off reliever Elliot Goldstein for a 12-1 lead to conclude the scoring in the third inning.

Bard chipped away with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the sixth to cut the deficit to 13-4, but made the biggest dent with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh off reliever Cameron Morrissey.

The Saints pulled even further away, however, with four runs in their final at-bats in the top of the ninth inning. Yaremko drove in two with a double to the base of the wall in left center, before DeGuardia followed with an RBI single through the right side and Lewis rounded out the day with an RBI single to center.

Pizzuto led off bottom of the ninth with a solo home run to left for the Raptors and Nikolai Grumet added an RBI single to bring the final score to 18-9 before Louis LaCivita ended the game with a strikeout looking for St. Lawrence.

LaCivita pitched the final 2.1 innings for the Saints, allowing just two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

The Saints set new season highs in both runs (18) and hits (18) in the win on Saturday, as well as home runs (2).
