Saints Alpine skier Martin finishes 16th in GS at UNH Carnival

Senior Dustin Martin paced the St. Lawrence University alpine ski teams with a 16th place finish on Friday in the giant slalom at the 2014 UNH Carnival at Attitash Mountain.

Martin's combined time of 2:22.94 landed the Stowe, VT native in the top-20 for the eighth time in his career and second time this season. Junior Graham Scott followed in 23rd place for the Saints men's team, while Nick Stenicka capped the scoring in 27th position. The trio combined to place St. Lawrence sixth in the team standings.

Junior Loudon Fruth was 34th in the men's GS, while Dylan Murtha and Ben DeFlavio did not finish.

Junior Maria Hillenbrand was the top St. Lawrence finisher in the women's event with a time of 2:36.16. The Steamboat Springs, CO native was 29th overall, and was joined by Hannah Kadah (32nd) and Amie Lonza (33rd) in the scoring. The three landed the Saints in ninth position as a team.

First-year student Sophia Frankenburg finished 39th in the women's GS, while classmate Alita Rogers and junior Allison Visconti did not finish.

The University of Vermont swept the GS races at UNH on Friday, with both team's winning and individual titles going to the Catamounts' Travis Dawson and Kate Ryley.

The St. Lawrence alpine teams will compete again tomorrow, Saturday, January 25 in the slalom races at UNH.
