Saint 4x800 Relay sets records, Ramsey wins 3000

St. Lawrence University's 4x800 relay team set St. Lawrence, ECAC and a facility record in winning that event at the 2011 ECAC Championships at the Armory in New York City on Saturday and Dan Ramsey followed a strong race in the 5000 on Friday with a win in the 3000 Saturday.

The 4x800 team of Michael Fox, Andrew Goodwin, Steve Kiplagat and Josh LeBlanc ran 7:42.96, winning the event by nearly four full seconds. The time was also an Armory Division III record and eclipsed the SLU mark of 7:51.15 set in 1987.

Ramsey, who was second by .01 of a second in the 5000 on Friday won the 3000 in 8:32.91 to complete an outstanding weekend in New York City while Fox ran 1:53.74, finishing third in the 800 and meeting NCAA provisional qualification with a time which currently ranks 18th nationally.

Mike Scott scored for the Saints with a sixth in the high jump clearing 1.90 meters. Other Saint finishes on Saturday included a 14th by Will Mosenthal in the 800, a 25th in the 1000 by Jack Knych and a 23rd in the 200 and a 25th in the 55 by Jarell Roberts.

The Saints placed sixth as a team in the meet which included 51 scoring teams.
