POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam cross country and track and field head coach Ryan Millar has selected Jasmine Ruiz as one of his assistants for the 2017-18 season. As with fellow assistant Cassia Hameline, Ruiz will work with both the cross country and track and field teams.

Ruiz will graduate from SUNY Potsdam this December with degrees in Chemistry and Mathematics. She was a four-year member of the track and cross country teams for South Side High School in her hometown of Rockville Center, N.Y. Her specialty was the 100 and 400 hurdles.

While attending Potsdam, Ruiz was instrumental in organizing the track and field club program. She has served as the club's secretary and treasurer and helped recruit athletes.

Now that the Bears will move to NCAA Division III status this year, Ruiz will help Millar in similar ways. She will assist in recruiting, running practices, overseeing workouts and transportation.

Potsdam is three weeks into its cross country season and the track and field program will debut this winter.
