rRoo's McMorrow wins third race of 2016, sets course Record at SUNY Poly

Marcy, NY – Àine McMorrow (Dublin Knocklyon, Ireland) set a course record and won her third race of the season finishing in first place out of the 75 runner field on Saturday at the SUNY Poly Wildcat Weekend Classic.

McMorrow set a new personal best covering the 6-kilometer course in 22:37 to win by 51 seconds ahead of second place Emma Bayuk from SUNY Cobleskill. Freshman Madeline Hewitt (Fabius, NY) was the second Roo harrier to cross the line in 19th place (26:26), while junior captain Kim McCarthy (Ludlow, MA) covered the course in 29:36 (42nd).

Schynia Petteys (Porter Corners, NY) finished in fourth place for Canton and 50th overall in a time of 31:01, while Allison Ford (Ilion, NY) rounded out the top five in 31:42 (54th). Julie Angell (Warrensburg, NY) recorded a 67th place (35:08) showing for the Roos.

SUNY Canton finished in fifth place with 136 points, while SUNY ESF won the team title with 46 points edging second place Cobleskill (49).

Anthony Fazio (Highland, NY) was the first Roo runner across the line in 29:32 (26th), followed by Luke Ducharme's (Brushton, NY) 38th place performance (30:45) out of the 113 runner field.

Paul Ford (Ausable Forks, NY) recorded a 45th place (31:30) showing, while Jonathan Dunham (Edmeston, NY) covered the 8-kilometer course in 33:01 (58th). Kyle Lorey (Corning, NY) was right on his heels finishing in the top five in his first race as a Roo in 33:02 (59th).

Matt Fortin (Liberty, NY - 68th), Brent Archer (Edwards, NY – 69th), Ryan Yutzler (Remsen, NY – 83rd), Maynor Morales (Copiague, NY – 95th), Charles Hanby (Wynantskill, NY – 100th) and Josh May (Glenville, NY – 111th) also competed for the Roos.

SUNY Canton finished in sixth place with 186 points, while host SUNY Poly (46) edged SUNY ESF (47) by a single point in the team title.

The cross country teams have two weekends off before racing at the Cross Country Only Championships in Geneva, NY on October 15th.
