The Rensselaer men's tennis team handed the Saints an 8-1 defeat in the Newell Field House on Saturday afternoon.
Dean Sponholz earned the lone victory of the day for the Scarlet and Brown with a come-from-behind win at No. 2 against Brandon Mazzara. He dropped the first set 2-6, but powered back for 6-1, 6-4 wins in the second and third sets.
Rhonny Rosario (No. 1) and Robert Schmitz (No. 4) both lost three-set matches to McKinley Grimes and Al Grullon Gonzalez, respectively.
The Saints will face RIT on Sunday afternoon in the Newell Field House at 1 p.m.
