St. Lawrence University's baseball team will try to bounce back from a four-game Liberty League sweep by Rensselaer when it host Hamilton on Tuesday and Rochester in a four-game Liberty League set on Saturday and Sunday.

The Saints were turned back 8-4 and 6-1 on Sunday by RPI, which stretched its winning streak to 10 games with a four-game weekend sweep of the Saints. RPI improves to 21-7, 13-5 in Liberty League play while the Saints are now 13-12 and 7-9 in league play.

SLU was limited to a dozen hits in the two games, and while the Saints led both, RPI came back to earn the sweep.

RPI's Tim Gallagher earned his fourth win of the season with six innings of two-hit scoreless relief in game one. RPI jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first with the help of a two-run double by Shane Matthews, but the Saints came right back with three in the bottom of the inning on a run-scoring single by Khifer O'Connor and a two-run double by Paul Piatelli.

The Saints took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the second on a single by Ethan Braddock, a bunt single by Bryan Palmero and Carter Franz's run-scoring ground out, but Chuck Erickson tied it for RPI with a solo homer in the top of the third. RPI took the lead with three in the top of the fourth, two scoring on an error, and added a run in the seventh on three straight singles with Mike Croke driving in the run.

Kevin Prindle took the loss for the Saints with relief help from Ben Jenkins.

Piatelli turned in a solid relief performance in game two, allowing one hit and striking out five in 2.2 innings of relief, but RPI completed the sweep with a 6-1 win as Jared Jensen threw a five-hitter for nine innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

The Saints got their lone run off Jensen in the bottom of the first as Mark Syron walked and scored on O'Connor's single.

Nick Annunziato tied the game for RPI in the top of the third with a run-scoring single and the Engineers went in front with three singles, a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly off Saint starter Chris Kellogg in the top of the fourth.

Jensen hit a two-run single as part of a three-run seventh against Saint reliever Andrew Weitzel to make it a 6-1 game.
