Potsdam, NY – Sophomore Trenton Yule (Oswego, NY) scored three goals but it wasn't enough as the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team dropped an 18-7 Route 11 road battle at SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday evening.
Five different players scored in the opening quarter for the Bears (8-1) as they opened up a 5-1 lead after the opening quarter. The eight wins in the first nine contests of the season marks the best start in program history for Potsdam. Yule netted the lone Canton tally in the opening period, his 15th of the season, off the set up from Jack Elberty (Canton, NY).
Chris Gamble (Carthage, NY) slotted his 12th of the season off a pass from Kyle Smith (Evans Mills, NY) and Yule added his second of the contest as the Roos (3-5) trailed 8-3 at intermission.
Smith and Yule tacked on second half goals, while Devin Gruneisen (Potsdam, NY) caged a pair of goals in the loss.
Kody Kocsis (Brasher Falls, NY) stopped 17 shots on the night, while Jackson Corcoran made four saves in the first half earning the win. Jack Bezek, Zach Sheridan and Sean Coe all split time between the pipes for the Bears in the second half.
The men's lacrosse team will have a week off before it hosts Wells College next Wednesday, April 13th at 4 p.m.
