(Clermont, Fla.)- The SUNY Canton softball team wrapped up their spring training trip on Friday as they lost to national power Alma College 14-1 and Davenport University 8-0 in Clermont, Fla.
Alma has made the NCAA national tournament in 11 of the last 12 years and the Roos split with Davenport this week after claiming a 4-2 victory on Thursday.
In the second game between the two teams, the Roos (2-8) scored their lone run in the top of the fourth inning after junior Heather Lottie (Canton, N.Y.) doubled down the left-field line and came around to score off an RBI single through the right side by junior Vicky Lynch (Howard Beach, N.Y.).
Lottie and Lynch each finished with two hits against the Panthers and junior Tina DeLuca (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) and freshman Jena Cryderman (Madrid, N.Y.) each contributed a single.
DeLuca also went the distance on the mound as she surrendered nine hits with one strikeout and two walks in six innings.
Ashleigh Blovsky went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs for Davenport and Sam Cole struck out 11 batters in the seven-inning win.
The Roos are next in action on March 23 and 24 when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. for games against Point Park University and Carlow University.
