(Geneva, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women’s cross country team finished in seventh place out of 15 teams at the CCOC Championships on Saturday at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva.
The 5K race is hosted by Hobart and William Smith and is for those schools that only have cross country and not any other track team.
William Smith won the women’s race and the Roos scored 197 points to beat out eight other schools. Sophomore Megan Mydosh (Warwick, N.Y.) posted her second straight 10th-place finish at the event with a time of 20:31, which was 18 seconds faster than her time in last year’s race.
Freshman Keara Byrne (Queensbury, N.Y.) followed Mydosh in 15th place in a time of 20:51. Freshman Megan Morrow (Gouverneur, N.Y.) crossed the line in 39th place in a time of 21:53. Freshman Paige Janis (Rochester, N.Y.) was 85th (24:03) and freshman Jessica Nagy (Budd Lake, N.J.) was 97th (24:30).
Saturday was the Roos final regular season meet. They’ll now prepare for the USCAA National Championships on Nov. 9 in Lake Placid.
