Jamaica, NY – Seven different players found the back of the net paced by two goals from Kristina DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) and a goal and assist from Hannah Christiansen (Lake View, NY) in an 8-0 road win for the SUNY Canton women's soccer team v. York College.
DiNardo set the tone for the Roos scoring just 15 seconds into the contest. Christiansen played a through ball right off the opening kick-off as DiNardo netted her fifth of the season. Two minutes later Christiansen stole the ball from a defender and put home her ninth of the season.
DiNardo added her second in just over a 13-minute span when she received a centering pass from Aliza Armstrong (Heuvelton, NY) to put the Roos on top 3-0. Bailey Grace (Rochester, NY) and Lexie Laramee (Lake Clear, NY) scored their first collegiate goals in the 30th and 32nd minutes as the Roos led 5-0 at intermission.
SUNY Canton continued the balanced scoring in the second half as Rebecca DiNardo (Ottawa, ON), Erica Bertolone (Churchville, NY) and Liz Lynch (North Lawrence, NY) all netted their first collegiate scores.
Overall, five different Roos scored for the first time in their collegiate careers on Friday. SUNY Canton finished with a 15-0 advantage in shots on goal and 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
Sarah Hilaire made seven saves for York, while Kelsi Gilbert (Colton, NY) and Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) both saw time in net without facing a shot.
The women's soccer team closes out the regular season on Saturday when it visits Lehman College at 12 p.m.
