(Canton, N.Y.)- Freshman Franchesca Trombley (Dekalb Junction, N.Y.) scored her second goal of the season as the SUNY Canton women’s soccer team lost at Wells College 2-1 on Sunday.

Trombley scored an unassisted goal in the 75th minute as she followed an initial shot that clanged off the cross bar for the Roos lone goal. SUNY Canton outshot the Express 31-23 and both goalies were tested throughout the contest. Sophomore Laura Pratt (Binghamton, N.Y.) posted a career-high 15 saves for the Roos and Ashley Roser stopped 16 shots for Wells.

The Roos return to their home turf field on Tuesday, Oct. 9 when they host SUNY Potsdam in the 3rd Annual Boyd Jones Cup. Jones, who died in November 2009, served as the sports information director at both colleges and each year the two women’s teams meet in the annual event rotating locations each year. Tuesday will also be Pink Night as SUNY Canton is joining in the fight against breast cancer and pink Roos t-shirts will be sold for $10. All the proceeds will go to the Susan G. Kormen Foundation to assist in breast cancer research. Anyone that purchases a t-shirt will receive a free bag of popcorn.
