RANDOLPH CENTER, VT--The SUNY Canton women's soccer team won their second straight game on Sunday as they beat Vermont Technical College 4-1 in Randolph Center, Vt.
The Roos scored four unanswered goals as they improved to 1-0 in the Sunrise Conference and 2-2 overall.
"We came out a little shaky at first but really pulled it together," said head coach Kate Thomas-Moody. "We were able to shut them down in the second half and our players were very determined that they weren't going to lose today."
Angie Waryasz (Lowville, N.Y.) scored two straight goals in the first half that put the Roos ahead 2-1 at halftime. Waryasz's first goal came in the 31st minute off an assist from Chelsea Allen (Marcellus, N.Y.) and then netted her second one from Kirsten Morley (Ogdensburg, N.Y.) in the 34th minute.
Morley scored a goal of her own in the 73rd minute from Bailey Allen (Adams, N.Y.) and Allen completed the scoring with 10:38 left in the game heading in a pass from Melissa Campoverde (New York, N.Y.).
The Roos out shot the Green Knights 24-10 and senior Aubrey Parrish (Greene, N.Y.) had nine saves in her first action of the season in goal to record the win.
Abigail Senesec had 20 saves for Vermont Tech.
The Roos are off until next weekend when they host Sunrise Conference opponents University of Maine at Fort Kent on Saturday and the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sunday.
