Canton, NY – Five different players scored as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team earned a 5-0 victory against visiting Green Mountain College on Friday evening.

The Roos (1-5) opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Bailey Grace (Rochester, NY) found Katie Lamica (Malone, NY) in the midfield. Lamica hit a strike into the lower left corner past Eagle keeper Chelsea Wimble for the early lead. Grace doubled the SUNY Canton lead just over five minutes later when she collected a loose ball off a throw in that snuck just inside the right post past Wimble.

SUNY Canton extended its lead to three in the 29th minute when Sydney Kinder (New York, NY) scored her first collegiate goal off a pass from Soren Shirley (Fort Plain, NY). SUNY Canton took a 3-0 lead into intermission.

With 23:15 remaining in the contest Shirley ripped a shot off a free kick into the upper right corner to net her first collegiate goal. With just more than 15 minutes remaining Allison Wakefield (Mastic, NY) played a nice through ball up to Megan Brockner (Callicoon Center, NY) who buried her first collegiate goal to round out the scoring on the evening.

Wakefield made one save over the first 45 minutes of play, while Kelsi Gilbert (Colton, NY) turned aside one shot after halftime. Six different keepers split time in net for the Eagles combining to make five saves.

The women's soccer team returns to the pitch on Wednesday when it visits Hilbert College at 4 p.m.
