Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team never trailed on its way to a 15-6 victory against visiting Alfred University on Thursday afternoon on Senior Day.

The Roos got off to a quick start scoring the first five goals of the game as Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) and Tressa Goolden (Canton, NY) each scored a pair. Kaitlyn Button netted her 25th of the season with 19:39 left in the opening half to get on the board.

Sydney Kinder (New York, NY) chipped in with her second goal of the season and Carroll and Goolden each added a goal in the final 1:35 of the half to take a commanding 8-2 lead into intermission.

SUNY Canton continued to roll as seven different players scored goals in the second half with the Roos rolling off the first five over the first 10 minutes of the period. The Saxons (2-8) would add four of the final six goals en route to the convincing 15-6 victory.

Amanda Woods (Williamsville, NY) led all players with game-highs of six ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers. Goolden added five ground balls and three draw controls, while Carroll chipped in five ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls.

Carroll finished with four goals and two assists, while Goolden netted three scores and assisted another. Hannah Christiansen (Lake View, NY) recorded two goals and an assist. Becca Kieffer (Lee Center, NY) turned aside seven shots, while Shannon Gray made 18 saves for Alfred.

The Roos honored their three graduating seniors Keri Christensen (Southampton, NY), Caty Darling (Oswego, NY) and Goolden prior to today's game. Darling and Goolden are the first four-year graduating seniors of the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse program.

The women's lacrosse team will close out the regular season on Wednesday when they visit Bard College for a 4:00 p.m.
