Roos women's lax cruise past Mavericks, 18-4

Buffalo, NY – The SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team scored nine goals in each half on its way to a convincing 18-4 road victory against host Medaille College on Saturday.

Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) continued to carry the offense with seven goals and two assists on just nine shots. Hannah Christiansen (Lake View, NY) upped her season goal total to 12 with a four goal outing on six shots and MaryClare Bowes (Irondequoit, NY) posted four points on three goals and an assist.

Tsieboo Herne (Hogansburg, NY), Katelynn Nutter (Carthage, NY), Paige Hart (Oswego, NY) and Sydney Kinder (New York, NY) all added one goal apiece for the Roos (5-3).

SUNY Canton scored six of the first seven goals of the contest before Medaille (3-2) got on the board with just under five minutes remaining in the half. The Roos would tack on the final three tallies of the half to take a 9-2 lead into intermission.

The Roos continued to receive contributions from all over the lineup outscoring the Mavericks by an identical 9-2 margin over the final 30 minutes.

Christiansen recorded game-highs of five ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Carroll and Amanda Woods (Williamsville) posted a game-best four draw controls each. Nine different players recorded a point for SUNY Canton.

Becca Kieffer (Lee Center, NY) had a stellar outing between the posts stopping 11 of the 15 shots she faced. Alea Wade made four saves on 22 shots for Medaille.

The women's lacrosse team returns home for a 4 p.m. matchup with Cazenovia College on Wednesday.
