Roos women’s lacrosse closes out season with program best 11 wins

Buffalo, NY – Junior Hannah Christiansen (Lake View, NY) scored twice in her native area of Western New York but the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team closed out its season with a 20-3 road loss at Buffalo State College on Saturday.

The Roos set a program record with 11 wins in 2016 as they finish the season at 11-5 overall. The Bengals move to 5-12 on the season in the highly competitive SUNYAC.

The Bengals scored the first seven goals of the game before Christiansen slotted her 22nd goal of the season 9:28 into the contest. After another goal for the hosts Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) got on the board scoring the 81st goal of her remarkable senior season. Theresa DiMartin (Oneonta, NY) earned an assist on the play as the hosts opened up a 13-2 halftime lead.

Christiansen added her second goal of the game as the Bengals earned the decisive victory. Abbey Diabo (Kahnawake, QUE) had a strong game picking up a team-high four ground balls, while Keri Dempsey (Wappingers Falls, NY) and Carroll recorded three ground balls apiece. Carroll added a game-high seven draw controls for the Roos.

Becca Kieffer (Lee Center, NY) made two saves, while Elyse Stark and Megan Doyle combined to make 10 saves for the Bengals.
