Canton, NY – Alexa Parigi scored the game-winning goal less than three minutes into the third period and Brooke Susac made 26 saves including 12 in the third period to lift the SUNY Canton women's hockey team to a crucial 2-1 Colonial Hockey Conference victory v. Johnson & Wales University on Friday in the Roos House.

Johnson & Wales (9-12-3, 3-5-3 CHC) got on the board first at 11:46 of the opening period on the power play. Julia Martinsson kept the puck in at the blue line and found Hannah Tracy above the right circle. Tracy skated all the way around to the left circle and her initial shot was saved by Brooke Susac, but Kathryn Mason put home the rebound at the far post for her ninth goal of the season.

The Roos (9-13-2, 5-5-1 CHC) had a great chance to tie the game at one apiece with three minutes left in the opening period as Hannah Brady ripped a slap shot off the right post but the Wildcats took a 1-0 lead into first intermission.

SUNY Canton tied the game at one apiece at 7:18 of the second period with the skater advantage. Jessica Pele and Micayla Macintyre worked the puck back-and-forth at the point and Pele took a shot from the left side that Katie Ferguson redirected home out in front past the glove of Kami Weiner. The Roos dominated play in the second period outshooting JWU, 18-5.

The hosts took the lead for good when Alexa Parigi went bar-down on a tremendous shot at the 2:39 mark of the third period and Brooke Susac made 12 third period saves to secure the 2-1 victory.

Susac finished with 26 saves overall, while Weiner made 34 stops for the Wildcats.

These two teams will have a rematch on Saturday at 3 p.m in the Roos House.
