(Burlington, Vt.)- The SUNY Canton women's ice hockey team won their second straight game on Sunday beating the University of Vermont 4-2 on the final day of the Catamount Challenge in Burlington, Vt.
Freshman Karley Cree (Hogansburg, N.Y.) scored twice to lead the Roos, who improved to 5-12-1 overall after finishing the tournament with a 2-1 record. The Roos also beat the University of Colorado 6-2 on Saturday after falling to the University at Buffalo Friday night. Cree, sophomore Devyn Hutcheson (Oswego, N.Y.) and freshman Stephanie Hyde (Massena, N.Y.) all finished the weekend with four goals. All three scored twice against Colorado, and Hutcheson and Hyde tallied two goals against Buffalo.
Freshmen Steph Kushnir (Goshen, N.Y.) and Grace Lyon (Winthrop, N.Y.) also scored in Sunday’s victory, and freshman Alyssa Altschuler (Cheshire, Conn.) made 24 saves in goal to improve to 4-5-1 overall this season.
The Roos return to their home ice for their next contest on Friday, Feb. 1 against the St. Lawrence University club team starting at 7 p.m. at Roos House.
