(Canton, N.Y.)- Jenise Torres (Albany, N.Y.) scored 13 points and Corrine Riegel (Bainbridge, N.Y.) had 11 in SUNY Canton’s 63-38 loss to SUNY Cobleskill Wednesday night in Canton.
Torres also had five rebounds and Riegel pulled down six.
SUNY Canton jumped out on the Tigers and built a 7-2 advantage in the early minutes of the opening half as Cobleskill struggled shooting from the outside. Torres started the scoring with her first of two 3-pointers, Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.), who played for the Tigers last year, scored on a jumper and Riegel sank a pair of free throws giving the Roos the early edge.
SUNY Canton (2-6) maintained the lead for most of the first 20 minutes before the Tigers slowly began to chip away at the lead and take a three-point lead (25-22) into the locker room.
Cobleskill used an 18-4 run midway through the second half to build a sizeable lead the Roos weren’t able to overcome.
Myers finished with six points and four rebounds and Jackie Sedlacek (Endicott, N.Y.) added four points and two assists.
Heidi Anderson led the Tigers with 19 points and five rebounds and Alexis Hauser added 12 points and four rebounds.
The Roos play their final home game of the first semester this Friday, Dec. 2 against Alfred University at 4 p.m.
