(Clermont, Fla.) - The SUNY Canton baseball team lost a close one in the first game of their doubleheader versus Northwood University of Florida 2-1 in eight innings today. The Roos also dropped the second game 15-1.
Gerardo Torres (Stafford, Va.) has been keeping up his form as lead-off batter starting game one with a home run. Starting Roos pitcher James Amelotte (Cornwall, Ontario) dismissed all three Northwood batters in order, ending the inning with the Roos up 1-0. The Roos maintained the lead through three innings and the Seahawks tied it up in the fourth. That score stayed the same and the game went into extra innings, where the Roos conceded a run and dropped the game with the final score of 2-1.
The second game did not prove to be as close as the first, with the Roos dropping their last game of the Florida trip 15-1.
Their next game is against Penn State-Greater Allegheny on March 17th in McKeesport, Pa. at 11:00 a.m.
