Roos tripped up by Kent State in shootout

(Kent, Ohio)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team dropped a 3-2 overtime shootout loss to Kent State University Saturday night in Kent, Ohio.

The 21st-ranked Roos dipped to 21-7 overall while the 19th-ranked Golden Flashes improved to 14-12-1.

SUNY Canton erased a 1-0 second period deficit by scoring two power play goals. Cory Bercume (Potsdam, N.Y.) tied the game at the three-minute mark of theGarrett Rosenbaum assisted on both goals on SaturdayGarrett Rosenbaum assisted on both goals on Saturday second period and then Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) put the Roos ahead scoring with 16 seconds left in the period.

That lead would hold until the 16:28 mark of the final period when Kent State managed to tie the game.

After a scoreless five minutes in overtime, the Golden Flashes earned the win in the second round of the shootout.

Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) had two assists for the Roos and Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) turned aside 29 shots in goal.

Matt Grandinetti had a goal and an assist for Kent State and Tyler Ross made 39 saves.
