(Auburndale, Fla.)- Seniors Gerardo Torres (Theresa, N.Y.) and Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) and junior Jordan Hunneyman (Redwood, N.Y.) each had an RBI-single in SUNY Canton’s 8-4 loss to Hannibal-LaGrange College on Friday in Auburnadale, Fla.

All three players went 1-for-4 at the plate, and freshman Braden Giffen (Lake Worth, Fla.) added a double and a run.

Freshman Khalil Britton (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) allowed five runs on nine hits with two strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings on the mound. Bryce MacDonald-Wilson (Gasten Passage, Nova Scotia) gave up one hit in 1 2/3 innings, and sophomore John Mancini (Scotia, N.Y.) had two strikeouts while surrendering one run in one inning.

SUNY Canton scored once in the third inning, once in the fourth and two in the fifth. In the top of the third, freshman Kyle Sacks (Clifton Park, N.Y.) reached safely on a fielder’s choice, and then came around to score on a single from Torres. In the fourth, Giffen doubled and scored on Darling’s RBI hit. In the fifth, sophomore Chris Jones (Deerfield Beach, Fla.) drew a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball. Freshman Eddy Morel (Lake Worth, Fla.) then reached on an error and Jones scored on the errant throw. Morel then stole second, and came home on Hunneyman’s single.

The Roos have one more game on their spring training trip. They’ll play Milwaukee School of Engineering Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Chain of Lakes Park Field #1 in Winter Haven.
