(Buffalo, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s ice hockey team finished their swing through Western New York 3-0 after knocking off Canisius College 7-2 Sunday afternoon in Buffalo.
The Roos improved to 3-0 in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League and 11-0-3 overall.
Chris Ypsilantis (Budd Lake, N.J.) stopped 12 of 13 shots over the first 30 minutes and Lorne Shotwell (Lewiston, N.Y.) turned aside nine of the 10 shots he faced in the final 30 minutes as the two freshmen goalies combined to stop the Golden Griffins.
Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) had one goal and three assists to lead the Roos offensively and John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.) added two goals. The Roos outshot Canisius 46-23.
Rob Lockamyeir and Mike Mangone scored for Canisius and Josh LiPuma had 39 saves.
The Roos return home this weekend when they host Binghamton University on Friday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
