(Morrisville, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton softball team continued their torrid streak on Thursday as they trounced Morrisville State College 11-6 and 22-9 to run their winning streak to seven straight games.

SUNY Canton evened their overall record to 12-12 as they’ve now won 11 of their last 12 games.  The Roos explosive offense continued to fire on Thursday as they banged out 31 hits against the Mustangs.

In the opening game, the Roos erased a 3-0 Morrisville lead after three innings with 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Roos took advantage of two wild pitches by the Mustangs, a two-run single by Lyndsay Coppola (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), an RBI sacrifice hit by Vickie Lynch (Howard Beach, N.Y.), and another Morrisville error to post four runs in the inning.  In the sixth, Lynch had an RBI-single, Jenifer Shaw (Helendale, N.Y.) ripped a two-run single, and Carolina Olivares (Adelanto, Calif.) smacked a three-run home run in a six-run outburst.

Coppola finished 2-for-5 for the Roos.  Shaw added a double and Emiley Walters (Lancaster, N.Y.) and Tina DeLuca (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) each had two hits.  DeLuca also recorded the win on the mound as she struck out five batters and allowed one walk and 11 hits in seven innings.

In the nightcap, the Roos put the game out of reach early with seven runs in the first inning and 12 more in the second frame.

Coppola recorded four more hits in game two, including a three-run double in the first inning and a solo home run in the third inning to finish with four RBIs.  Heather Lottie (Canton, N.Y.) also went deep with a two-run shot in the third inning.  She added a double and finished with five RBIs.  Danielle Callahan (Kingston, N.Y.) was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and Olivares added two doubles and two RBIs.

Jessica Measheaw (Hammond, N.Y.) won her fourth straight game as she allowed 12 hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Jessica Rigg and Kayla Walker each doubled in game one for the Mustangs and Kate Jones and Cassandra Smith each doubled and homered in game two.
