Alfred, NY – The SUNY Canton softball team earned a pair of victories sweeping host Alfred State by scores of 13-2 and 12-4 on Saturday. The Roos improve to 12-9 overall while the Pioneers fall to 3-19 overall.
Game 1
Kaleigh Foran led all players with two hits and drove in four runs in the opener as Lizzie Bimonte and Brittany Staltare also produced multi-hit games and Desiree Pryce drove in a pair of runs. The Roos scored six runs in the second and five in the third en route to the five-inning run-rule victory.
Jordan Podkladek earned the win on the mound giving up one earned run over five innings with two strike outs. Trisha Shingleton took the loss giving up 11 hits and seven earned runs in five innings.
Game 2
Eight different players drove in runs in the nightcap for Canton behind Podkladek's second win of the day. She gave up just one earned runs on five hits in five innings. Jordan Leonard received the loss for the Pioneers with eight earned runs and six hits surrendered in five innings. Jaedyn Ossont paced the Roos with two hits in a balanced effort.
These two teams will play another doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
