(Clermont, Fla.)- The SUNY Canton softball team played their first of eight games on Sunday during their spring training trip at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla., and were dealt a 17-7 loss by the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
The Roos were scheduled to play Rochester Institute of Technology later in the morning, but that game was rained out.
Junior Andrea Rogers (Munnsville, N.Y.) banged out a pair of doubles with one RBI to pace the Roos attack. Seniors Heather Lottie (Canton, N.Y.) and Colleen Rivers (Bayshore, N.Y.), junior Allie Gibson (North Tonawanda, N.Y.), and sophomore Hallie Fenti (Hornell, N.Y.) each added an RBI-double.
Lottie got the start on the mound and struck out four batters and gave up four hits in two innings. Gibson came on in relief and recorded three strikeouts and allowed two hits.
The Roos are next in action on Monday, Feb. 25 when they play RIT at 9 a.m. and Alma College at 1 p.m.
