Roos Mynter, Swanston and Reynolds named volleyball USCAA All-Americans

(Canton, N.Y.)- Three members of the SUNY Canton women’s volleyball team were named all-Americans by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.

Sophomore setter Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, N.Y.) was named to the First Team, senior outside hitter Danielle Swanston (Burke, N.Y.) was named to the Second Team and sophomore outside hitter Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, Ontario) received Honorable Mention. The award winners were announced and recognized at the championship banquet at the Gran View Restaurant in Ogdensburg prior to the national championship at SUNY Canton.

Mynter led the Roos during the regular season and was third in the nation with 8.3 assists per set. She also averaged 1.35 kills and had 120 digs, 46 service aces and 33 total blocks and posted a .274 hitting percentage.

Swanston was second on the team in kills averaging 2.21 per set. She had a hitting percentage of .274 and also collected 153 digs and 31 service aces.

Reynolds was third in kills averaging 1.9 with a .202 hitting percentage. She also recorded 153 digs and 33 service aces.

Swanston, junior outside hitter Shiloh Bourgeois (Keesville, N.Y.) and sophomore outside hitter Caitlin Grimshaw (Adams, N.Y.) were also recognized for being chosen for the all-Academic Team. To qualify for the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior with a 3.50 grade-point average.

The Roos finished the regular season 24-2 and fourth at the USCAA national championship, an event they’ll host again in 2013.
