PITTSFORD -- Evan Drew (Elizabethtown, NY) recorded nine saves on the day for the SUNY Canton men's soccer team but it was not enough as they fell, 4-0, to Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon in the Doug May Classic.
The Roos drop to 0-2, while the Tigers improve to 1-1.
RIT got off to a quick start as they scored all four of their goals in the contest's opening 23 minutes. After that point the Roos tightened up their defense and Drew was phenomenal in net making seven saves after halftime.
Despite being outshot 21-8 and facing 12 Tiger corner kicks SUNY Canton hung tough and continued to battle. The Roos finished the contest with three shots on goal, two of which came off the foot of Hunter Mowery (Elizabethtown, NY). John Forte (Schenectady, NY) added the other shot on target. Mark Reeves stopped all three attempts he faced in the contest for RIT.
The SUNY Canton men's soccer team returns to action a week from today, Sept. 7th, when they host Alfred University in the team's home-opener beginning at 12:00 p.m.
