Marcy, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team saw its four match winning streak snapped as they dropped a 2-0 decision to host SUNY Poly on Wednesday evening.
The Wildcats struck first in the 28th minute as Zack Joseph scored an unassisted marker. SUNY Poly took a 1-0 lead into intermission.
The Roos looked to find the equalizer in the second half but the Wildcats added an important insurance marker in the 67th minute. SUNY Canton was whistled for a defensive foul in the box as Nick McBride stepped up to take the penalty kick. Austin Lamay (Malone, NY) made the initial stop, his second PK stop in as many games, but McBride put home the rebound before the Roo defense could recover.
SUNY Poly held a 6-4 shots on goal advantage. Lamay stopped four shots for the Roos. Jess Yanarella made four saves over the first 83:54, while Mingoro Fanny did not face a shot over the final 6:06.
The men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday when visits John Jay College at 4:30 p.m.
