(Cortland, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s lacrosse team received goals from 10 different players as they posted a convincing 17-3 win over Wells College Saturday afternoon at SUNY Cortland.

The 14-goal margin of victory was the second highest by the Roos in the last two years, as they outshot the Express 44-24 and won the ground ball (38-34) and faceoff (17-7) battles. SUNY Canton also scored three man up goals in six opportunities.

Freshman Chris Gamble (Carthage, N.Y.) tallied four goals to pace the Roos. Freshman Dustin Andrus (Potsdam, N.Y.) and senior Patrick Connelly (Chittenango, N.Y.) each had two goals and one assist. Sophomores Ryan Cardiff (Albany, N.Y.) and Shawn Spadaccini (Canton, N.Y.) added two goals apiece, and junior Tanner Pratt (Canton, N.Y.) contributed four assists.

Junior Corey Spuck (Rochester, N.Y.) was credited with the win as he stopped 10 shots in 39 minutes in goal. Freshman Jeff Hammond (Rensselaer Falls, N.Y.) relieved Spuck in the third quarter and finished with two saves.

The Roos scored the only three goals of the first half and then extended their lead to 7-1 at the break. SUNY Canton kept up the pressure over the final 30 minutes outscoring Wells 10-2.

The Roos return to their home field on Sunday hosting Green Mountain College at 1 p.m.
