Roos men's ice hockey beaten by Assumption 5-2

(Worcester, Mass.)- The SUNY Canton men's ice hockey team lost to Assumption College 5-2 Friday night in Worcester, Mass.

The Roos saw their three-game winning streak come to an end as they dropped to 8-2 overall.

SUNY Canton fell behind 2-1 after one period. Darren Camp (Canton, N.Y.) opened the scoring with his seventh goal of the year off assists from Corey Giczewski (Fountain Valley, Calif.) and Garrett Rosenbaum (Charleston, S.C.) just 1:02 into the game.

The Greyhounds scored two goals after that to take the lead.

Rob Liggio (Canton, N.Y.) tied the game scoring his team-leading 11th goals at the 9:26 mark of the second period from John Payne (Port Moody, B.C.) and Jeremiah Hardin (Alpharetta, Ga.).

Assumption went back ahead 3-2 scoring with 2:05 left in the period and then they tacked on two more goals in the third period for the final score.

Jimmy Merrow (Plainsboro, N.J.) had 31 saves for the Roos.

Curtis Sernoskie scored twice and had one assist to lead the Greyhounds. Jamie Vona added a goal and an assist. Nick Blanchette had 19 saves over the first two periods and Steve Di Domenico had six saves in the third period.

The Roos will play Southern New Hampshire University Saturday night at 5:30 in Manchester, N.H.
