Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team shot 53 percent from the field and made 58 trips to the free throw line as they defeated visiting Houghton College, 107-96, in a high scoring affair on Saturday evening in the Roos House.

The Roos (5-2), who have won four straight contests, made 32 of their 61 field goal attempts and converted 39 points from the charity stripe. The 107 points scored by the team are the most since SUNY Canton scored 114 in a 117-114 overtime loss to the University of Maine Presque Isle on February 18, 2010.

Sam Annorh (Queens, NY) led all scorers with 31 points and added eight rebounds and seven assists. Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) posted 16 points and seven rebounds, while Rashad Richardson (Rochester, NY) finished with 14 points and four boards.

Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) tallied 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists while Adam Felt (Lisbon, NY), Tyler Ellison (New York, NY) and Kam Peterkin (Harlem, NY) recorded nine points apiece in a balanced effort for the Roos.

The game was a seesaw battle for the first seven minutes of the second half but after Peterkin hit a pair of free throws to make it 63-62 SUNY Canton would not trail again for the duration of the game.

SUNY Canton opened up a 50-47 lead early in the second half after a Fletcher throwdown as he was also fouled on the play and converted the free throw. The Roos extended their lead to 80-70 after back-to-back slams from Fletcher and Richardson with 7:37 remaining. The hosts would eventually lead by as many as 13 en route to the 107-96 win.

SUNY Canton scored seven of the contest's first nine points, all of which came in transition to open up an early five point lead. After a Fletcher old fashioned three-point play the Roos led by six. They would open up a 22-14 advantage after a Peterkin lay-up in transition, the largest lead for either team in the opening half.

Houghton used an 11-1 run to take a 25-23 lead with seven minutes to play in the first half. The teams had six ties in the opening half but SUNY Canton would regain the lead as Annorh gathered his own miss for a quick put back as time expired in the half. SUNY Canton led 42-41 at intermission.

The Roos received a big lift from their bench outscoring the Houghton reserves 35-26, while the Highlanders controlled second chance turnovers 25-15. The
