Canton, NY – Tyler Bullard posted a goal and assist and Ben Beasley added a pair of assists as the SUNY Canton men's hockey team earned a 3-1 win v. Johnson & Wales University on Friday night.

The Roos (4-11-2) outshot Johnson & Wales (5-11-0) 12-4 in the opening period but neither team could find the back of the net as the teams skated to first intermission scoreless.

Canton got on the board just 1:46 into the second period when Tyler Bullard found Joe Deveny at the far post for a one-timer, his team-leading 13th goal of the season. Ben Beasley also earned a helper on the play.

The Roos doubled their lead five minutes later when Tyler Ralph put home his fourth goal of the season redirecting a Josh Sova shot out in front. Zach Pease also earned a helper on the play.

Bullard added a second Canton power play goal when he made a great move through traffic backhanding his fourth goal of the season into the back of the net. Ben Beasley earned an assist on the score. Canton held a 17-7 shots advantage in the second period taking a 3-0 lead into second intermission.

The Wildcats pulled the goalie late as Victor Carlsson scored with the extra attacker for the 3-1 final.

Austin Washkurak made 16 saves in net, while Tyler Ellor and Mike Rockwell combined to make 32 saves for the Wildcats.

The men's hockey team returns to the ice next Friday, January 19th at 4 p.m. when it hosts King's College.
