Milton, MA – The SUNY Canton offense struggled as it was shutout for just the second time all season falling, 4-0, to host Curry College Thursday evening.

The hosts started the scoring 4:12 into the first period when Brad Devereaux tallied his fourth of the season off passes from Brandon Gilmore and Michael Vallescuro. The extra skater paid off for the Colonels (5-9-2) four minutes later when Sean Nelson took a pass from Dominic Puntillo and beat Roo net minder Morgan Barr (Almonte, ON) on the power play. Barr made 12 saves in the opening period as Curry led 2-0 after one.

After neither team found the back of the net for the first 17 minutes of the second period Curry used two late scores to blow open a 4-0 lead after the second period. Shane Harrington registered his second goal of the season at the 17:21 mark off passes from Joe Scarfo and Jordan Reed. Gilmore added his second point of the game as he netted a power play marker. Vallescuro and Devereaux were credited with assists on the play.

The teams played to a scoreless third period resulting in the 4-0 final. Barr stopped 37 shots for SUNY Canton (3-14-2), while Derek Mohney made 25 saves in the shutout for Curry. The Colonels were 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Roos were 0-for-4 with the extra skater.

The men's hockey team has just over two weeks off as it is back in action February 7th when it travels to Worcester, MA to take on Assumption College. Puck drop is set for 5:35 p.m.
