(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s cross country finished in seventh place on Saturday at the Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence University.

Cortland State won the men’s 8K race and the Roos recorded 205 points to finish ahead of Paul Smith’s College and SUNY Potsdam in the nine-team event.

Three SUNY Canton runners achieved personal-best times in the Hoffman Invitational led by senior Justin Richardson (Pavilion, N.Y.) who crossed the line in 26th place in a time of 27:36. Richardson’s previous low time of 28:14 came during his sophomore season. Junior Jon Flint (Queensbury, N.Y.) followed Richardson in 54th place in a time of 29:07, which was nine seconds faster than his time in last year’s race. Senior Tyler Morse (North Creek, N.Y.), who, along with Richardson, was running in his fourth Hoffman Invitational also finished with a personal best time of 33:37.

Other runners for SUNY Canton included Senior Dylan Barringer (Walkill, N.Y.) who came in 84th place for the Roos in a time of 30:47. Freshman Meraf Tenaw (New York, N.Y.) was 89th (31:33), freshman Mekedem Tenaw (New York, N.Y.) was 90th (31:46) and junior Bryant Cotey (Norwood, N.Y.) was 107th (34:49).

SUNY Canton will wrap up their regular season next Saturday, Oct. 13 at the CCOC Championships hosted by Hobart and William Smith and then prepare for the USCAA National Championship on Nov. 9 in Lake Placid.
