(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton men’s basketball team was upended by The Sage Colleges 83-51 Saturday afternoon in Roos House.
The Gators (8-7) used a significant height advantage to claim the road win, as they outscored the Roos (5-12) 52-26 in the paint and held a 53-31 rebounding advantage.
Junior guard Khalid Vaughn (New York, N.Y.) paced the home squad with 13 points, six rebounds and six assists. Sophomore forward Xzavier Fisher (Plymouth, Pa.) totaled 11 points and four rebounds.
Freshman guard Michael Pulci (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored six points and grabbed four rebounds off the bench, and sophomore guards Scott Bartenstein (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Tyler Ellison (New York, N.Y.) each added five points apiece.
The Gators’ leading scorer, Mason Horne, tossed in a game-high 17 points to lead the visitors, and Matt Farbotko added 13 points and five rebounds.
The Roos hit the road next weekend for a pair of games in Maine, starting on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle and then on Sunday, Jan. 27 at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
