Roos' McMorrow wins Badger Invitational, women 5th and men 7th

Johnson, VT – Àine McMorrow (Dublin Knocklyon, Ireland) finished in first place out of the 79 runner field as the women's and men's cross country teams competed at the Badger Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

McMorrow covered the 5-kilometer course in 20:29 finishing 20 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor in Clarkson University's Kelley Hull. Madeline Hewitt (Fabius, NY) was the next SUNY Canton runner across the line in 29th place (24:42).

Kim McCarthy (Ludlow, MA) recorded a third place showing for the Roo runners in 50th place (27:20), while Schynia Petteys (Porter Corners, NY) finished in a time of 28:24 (58th). Allison Ford (Ilion, NY) rounded out the SUNY Canton scorers in 65th (30:03), while Julie Angell (Warrensburg, NY) and Michaela O'Riley (Gouverneur, NY) also competed for the Roos.

SUNY Canton finished in fifth place out of the eight team field with 135 points. Clarkson University took home the team title with 20 points.

Anthony Fazio (Highland, NY) led the men's side with a 27th place (29:59) finish recording his first collegiate 8-kilometer race under 30 minutes. Luke Ducharme (Brushton, NY) was the second Roo runner across the line in 31:49 (49th), while Jonathan Dunham () crossed the line in 56th place (32:44).

Paul Ford (Ausable Forks, NY) and Matt Fortin (Liberty, NY) rounded out the top five with times of 33:07 and 34:15, respectively. Brent Archer (Edwards, NY – 34:16), Ryan Yutzler (Remsen, NY – 37:43), Dan Loskowitz (Stuyvesant, NY – 39:14), Charles Hanby (Wynantskill, NY – 40:01) and Maynor Morales (Copiague, NY – 40:02) rounded out the Roo competitors.

The men finished in seventh place out of the 11 team field with 196 points. Clarkson took home the team title with 28 points.

The cross country teams are back in action next Saturday when they take part in the SUNY Poly Invitational. The women take off at 11 a.m. followed by the men at 11:45 a.m.
