(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women’s basketball team lost to Bard College 58-45 on the second day of the Kevin Fee / Roos Classic in Canton.

The Roos saw their record dip to 1-2 overall while the Raptors improved to 1-1.

SUNY Canton led for most of the first 20 minutes opening a 13-7 lead after a Kaitlin Myers (Dannemora, N.Y.) 3-pointer with 12:44 remaining. Six straight points from Bard tied the game with 9:26 left and the lead changed hands four more times the rest of the half. Junior Alicia Uhlein (Watertown, N.Y.) converted a pair of free throws with a minute on the clock to tie the game at 23-23 and that scored held into halftime.

Both teams traded 3s to start the second half. Junior Joelle Percy (Black River, N.Y.) drained one of her two triples on the Roos first possession to take a 26-23 lead. Bard answered with a three from Bianka Bell and a layup from Tytravia Rile to take a 28-26 lead, but Uhlien countered with a triple of her own that would put the Roos head 29-26 and what would turn out to be their last lead of the night with 16:58 remaining. The Raptors held the lead for the next eight minutes before SUNY Canton clawed back to tie the game 38-38 following a three from Myers and an inside bucket from freshman Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, N.Y.). Bard then reeled off a 15-2 run and they wouldn’t relinquish the lead from there.

Myers led the Roos with 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Terrance finished with 10 points and four rebounds. Uhlein ended her night with seven points, six assists and six rebounds. Percy and senior Brittany Crump (North Lawrence, N.Y.) each added six points apiece.

Rile led the Raptors with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Victoria Fleisher added 11 points and four assists.

The Roos will look to rebound on Tuesday, Nov. 20 when they travel to Vermont to play Johnson State College at 3 p.m.
