Utica, NY – Jessica Kistabish (Pikogan, QUE) found the back of the net for the ninth time this season on Saturday evening but the women's hockey team fell short to host Utica College, 4-1, at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

SUNY Canton (4-8-2) got on the board first at the 6:57 mark of the opening period when Kistabish lit the lamp beating Utica goaltender Jennifer Hamel top shelf. The Roos would take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Pioneers (8-2-0) controlled the second period using back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead after two. Kelsey Dowdall netted her second goal in as many games, this one coming on the power play at the 6:41 mark to knot the game at one. A little more than three minutes later Megan Myers tallied her team-best ninth marker of the season to give Utica its first lead of the night.

Mackenzie Roy added an insurance marker at the 9:06 mark of the third period to make it 3-1 Utica and Myers recorded her second tally of the night at the 17:28 mark for the 4-1 final.

Shayna Dominique (Mistissini, QUE) stopped 38 shots on the evening, while her counterpart Hamel made 21 saves. SUNY Canton went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Pioneers were 1-for-6 with the skater advantage.

The women's hockey team hits the road for Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop against host Hamilton College.
