Tampa, FL – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team used a furious late comeback scoring 16 of the contest's final 18 points but came up a single point short falling, 70-69, to DePauw University in the championship game of the Tampa Bay Shootout on Friday.

Trailing 68-53 with 5:47 remaining the Roos rattled off 13 consecutive points to get within 68-66 with 2:16 remaining after a steal and layup from Romario Fletcher. Sam Annorh also posted six points during the key run.

After a layup from Jack Vandemerkt extended the Tiger lead to four Adrian Williams hit a three-pointer cutting the deficit to just one with 1:06 to play. The Roos got a defensive stop but Annorh's three-point attempt with seven seconds remaining was off the mark as DePauw held on for the victory.

"Today was a tough loss for our team, but our guys showed great resiliency in a championship atmosphere," Head Coach Ben Thompson said. "We have to continue getting better, but this has been a great experience and trip for our team."

Annorh and Rashad Richardson led all players with 19 points, while Richardson added 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Williams finished with 12 points, while Fletcher saw his eight game double-double streak come to an end with 10 points and six boards.

DePauw (6-5) jumped out to an early 23-20 lead before closing the opening half on a 13-2 run to take a 36-22 lead into intermission. The Tigers remained in control up 15 before the Roos late run.

Luke Lattner led the Tigers with 12 points, while Nate Jahn and John Starkey posted 10 points apiece. James Clarke and David Vogel also added nine points each in a balanced scoring attack for DePauw.

The Roos (5-6) held the upper hand in points off turnovers (22-14), points in the paint (38-26) and fast break points (14-4) but the Tigers received a big lift from their bench outscoring the Canton reserves, 31-7.

For his play during the tournament Annorh was named to the All-Tournament Team.
