(Canton, N.Y.)- Senior Homero Flores (Tamaulipas, Mexico) of the men’s soccer team has been named the USCAA Goalie of the Week after his heroics helped the Roos tie top-ranked Fort Kent 0-0 in double overtime in their final game of the season.
Flores, playing the final game of his four-year career, was outstanding making 11 saves against the Bengals including several game-saving stops. Five minutes into the second half Flores blocked a penalty kick attempt and with less than two minutes left in the second overtime made a full extension diving save off a hard shot to keep the game scoreless.
Flores is the first member of the team to receive this honor from the USCAA this season. The Roos were 11-7-3 this year and Flores finished with a 1.48 goals-against average and a .727 save percentage with two shutouts in six games.
