Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's basketball team controlled play throughout leading from start to finish in a 82-46 win against visiting Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday afternoon.
The Roos got out to a quick 14-2 start and led by 20 midway through the opening period. SUNY Canton led by as many as 25 in the first half taking a 45-25 lead into intermission.
The hosts kept the foot on the gas pedal in the second stanza with strong play from its reserves en route to the commanding 36-point victory.
Romario Fletcher (Queens, NY) led all players with 15 points, while Kam Peterkin (Harlem, NY) chipped in 13 points off the bench. Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY) added 11 points as 13 different players scored for SUNY Canton.
Xzavier Fisher (Brooklyn, NY) finished with eight points, while Vonallen Pickett (Brooklyn, NY) posted eight points. Dontae Whitehead (Queens, NY) scored his first collegiate points on his way to a five-point night.
Alex Johnson and David Mcentee paced the Panthers with 13 and 10 points, respectively. The Roos controlled points in the paint (44-24), points off turnovers (27-6) and bench points (44-3).
The men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Vermont Technical College.
