West Seneca, NY – The SUNY Canton baseball team erupted for 23 runs in a Saturday sweep of D'Youville College. The Roos (11-12) defeated the host Spartans (1-10) 15-2 and 8-5.

Game One

Freshman Zach Lawrence (West Palm Beach, FL) continued his impressive start to his collegiate career throwing a complete game surrendering just two runs while striking out five batters to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Lawrence had plenty of run support as the Roo bats put 15 runs on the board in the first game of a twinbill. Braden Giffin (Lake Worth, FL) led the team offensively with 4 RBI's. Chris Jones (Deerfield Beach, FL) also had a productive game going 2-for-3 scoring three times and knocking in three runs.

Senior Jordan Hunneyman (Redwood, NY) moved into first place on the SUNY Canton hit list with three hits on the day including a solo blast. The Redwood, NY native has eclipsed the 100 hit mark for his career. Hunneyman and Nick Belile (Norwood, NY) each drove in two runs.

Game Two

Derek Harkin (Ottawa, ON) earned his second win of the season in the nightcap going five innings while striking out five batters en route to surrendering just one earned run. Hunneyman yielded just two hits in two innings of relief action.

SUNY Canton received contributions from all over the lineup as Austin Hernandez (Loxahatchee, FL), Jesse Barton (Belle Glade, FL), Jeremy Baez (Bronx, NY) and Belile all had two hits each. Barton and Kevin Hill (Deerfield Beach, FL) posted 2 RBIs apiece.

The Roos are back in action on Monday when they visit Cazenovia College for a 3:30 p.m. start.
