(North Canton, Ohio) –The SUNY Canton baseball team wrapped up a difficult six-game swing through Pennsylvania and Ohio as they lost to Walsh University 11-1 and 4-0 in an afternoon doubleheader on Sunday in North Canton, Ohio.

After falling behind 2-0 after two innings in game one, the Roos cut the lead in half in the top of the third inning after freshman Danny Perez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) singled to lead off the inning and then came around to score when sophomore Tom Darling (Oswego, N.Y.) ripped an RBI-double.

The Cavaliers answered with two runs in the fourth inning and six more in the fifth inning to capture the win.

Perez finished with two singles for the Roos (0-21) and junior Michael Zelyez (Brasher Falls, N.Y.) and freshman Phil Tsiaras (Toronto, Ontario) each singled once.

Dillon James (Ottawa, Ontario) took the loss on the mound as the freshman recorded three strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings while allowing 10 hits and six walks.  Sophomore Evan Hammond (Ottawa, Ontario) struck out one batter in relief.

Darling smacked another double in the nightcap and Zelyez added his second single of the day for the Roos.  Freshman Jordan Hunneyman (Redwood, N.Y.) was saddled with the loss as he fanned four batters and surrendered nine hits and one walk in six innings of work.

Ronnie Harris was 4-for-4 for the Cavaliers in game one.  Tim Stinson and Drew Link each drove in three runs and Travis Danner had nine strikeouts.  Dustin Lancy went 3-for-4 with a run in the nightcap and David Roper registered five strikeouts in the two-hit win for Walsh.

The Roos open their Sunrise Conference schedule next week when they host Fisher College on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3.  Both doubleheaders start at 12 p.m. in Canton.
