Auburndale, FL – The SUNY Canton baseball team led 8-1 after the fourth inning but two big scoring innings from Huntington University helped them defeat the Roos, 14-13 on Sunday.

SUNY Canton (6-5) scored at least two runs in the first three innings. Kevin Icaza (Bronx, NY) singled to center scoring Austin Hernandez (Loxahatchee, FL) to get the Roos on the board. Icaza then came across the plate after a wild pitch. Icaza, Kevin Hill (Deerfield Beach, FL) and Jordan Hunneyman (Redwood, NY) all walked in runs in the second inning and Nick Belile (Norwood, NY) produced a run each in the third and fourth innings with RBI singles.

Huntington got a huge inning scoring six in the fifth to get within 8-6. The Roos responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take command of the game once again at 11-6. SUNY Canton held an 11-10 lead heading into the ninth inning.

The Foresters came up with a huge top half as they brought four runners across. SUNY Canton scored two in the bottom half of the inning and even got the game-tying and game-winning runners on base but was unable to complete the comeback.

Khalil Bratton (Queens, NY), Dom Deliberti (Staten Island, NY), Bryce MacDonald-Wilson (Gastein Passage, Novia Scotia), Hernandez, Alex LaFountain (Keesville, NY) and Matt Hall (Palmyra, NY) all saw time in the game on the mound for the Roos. SUNY Canton completes its Spring Training trip going 6-3 while in Florida.

The team is back in action on Friday when it travels to take on Pen State Abington at 3:00 p.m.
