Swarthmore, PA – The SUNY Canton baseball team dropped a doubleheader to host Swarthmore College on Saturday.

Game 1 – Box Score

The opener of a twinbill on Saturday proved to be a pitcher's duel as the teams combined for just six hits. Travis Bigelow (Ottawa, ON) surrendered three hits and one earned run, while striking out six batters and walking two in six innings.

Wilson Matos (Brooklyn, NY) led the offense with two hits and a double, while Jeremy Baez (Bronx, NY) produced the only other hit.

The lone run for Swarthmore came across in the bottom of the first when Wolfson walked home Aldaco.

The Roos got a runner to third base in the top of the fourth and a runner to second in the seventh but were unable to tie up the low scoring affair.

Game 2 – Box Score

The Roos jumped out to a quick start in the nightcap scoring four runs in the top of the first but Swarthmore responded with 14 runs in the first, second and third innings to earn a 14-4 victory.

Matos led the way with two hits, while six other Roos registered one hit each. Travis Schindler (West Islip, NY), Brett Hoberman (Wellington, FL) and Tom Brusca (Middletown, NY) drove in one run apiece for SUNY Canton.

Derrek DuPont (Catskill, NY) took the loss on the mound surrendering six earned runs over one and one-third innings.

The baseball team will open Empire 8 conference play on Friday when it travels to Stevens Institute of Technology for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
